Abstract:

A Brief Tour of Asteroid Exploration

In this talk I will review the history of asteroid exploration. I will walk through each of the missions that have been flown and discuss some of the features and main findings of the missions. I will focus a bit more on OSIRIS-REx and DART - two missions I was involved with - and then discuss current and future mission plans. 

Exploring Further: Advances in Autonomy for Small Body Missions

This talk will discuss how autonomy can enable exciting new mission concepts for small body exploration and utilization. I will discuss a number of research topics carried out in my lab ranging from autonomous guidance, navigation and control to mission design, autonomous science operations, and finally discussing a new type of soft-robotic spacecraft that might enable some of these new mission concepts.
